DIY Railroad Pike Tongs

I have seen in some blacksmith newsletters and web sites that they were using old Hoof nippers to make tongs to hold Railroad spikes. I think that I have come up with a better way to hold them using a slightly different design. So the pictures below is my take on how I made them. You can find old hoof nippers at Flea Markets if you look around for $5.00 to $20.00 for and old pair. I roughed out the shape using a Dynafile and hot forged the finished shape, they hold the spikes good.
